just put onion in water, it will help u to stop crying, but i will prefer not as you lose the flavour.
tilt your head upwards, as the gas rises it gets trapped in your eyes while looking down.
put the whole onion in cold water in the fridge for an hour before cutting. It was tested on the Food Network and came out the only proven method.
I doubt that there are any “trick” for it, you just have to get used to it – more you cut, the less onion will make you cry.
… Or you could just half it down the middle and take off the skin when it’s in two halves? This seems fidgety to me, but ah well.
someone who used to work in the kitchen of some restaurant told me that turning on the burner of the stove will help.
I also notice that I hardly cry when I am cutting the onions next to the stove when the fire is on.

i saw a show once that said if you cut the gland out of the bottom before you cut the onion you won’t tear. i haven’t tried it personally but i will to see if it’s true.
cut the onion in water trust me it works
put your knife and onions into water. After that take it out and cut.

You can rinse the onion in cold water, or just keep at it and after time you get used to it.
You put it in the freezer for 10 minutes before cutting it.

In Tansaniya they cool the onion and put it in an onion scraper

Even though this video made my eyes tear up a bit, so maybe for me it’s all psychological
Breathing has nothing to do with the sting, it’s reaction of sulfides in the onion creating weak sulfuric acid in your tears.
I’m quite sensitive to it so I use goggles from chemistry lab a few semesters ago.
Look like a fool but quite effective if you’re chopping a mess of onions.
