How hard is the Registered Dietitian program?

I want to become a dietitian but I'm very nervous that I won't be able to make it through the program. I'm not the best at science and the major is filled with science courses such as biochem, organic chemistry, microbiology, et al...

Okay, I'm right there with ya. I did a program that didn't get me the DPD's so I'm having to go back for them. Yes it is very competitive but just keep trying. I have a feeling it's going to take two years of applying for me to get in and I might not be at the places I want to be.

I'm hoping to take a few classes at the community college to bring up my GPA- like retaking microbiology...

I didn't do as hot in microbiology or biochem as I would like but the nutrition classes help bring up your grade. Also, when you apply, you fill out all of the DPD classes and your grades in them and that tends to bring up your DPD GPA

You can take the exam more than once. In fact, a whole lot of those that take it the first time, fail.

Stick with it, it's worth it in the end. It's hard but if you like it, go for it. Don't be afraid of when you know you love. I think that the actual work of dietetics ends up being more about helping and working with the client to do so. Some of the best dietitians I know weren't amazing with science, but their clients listen to them and work hard with them.

With todays world, I'm having a hard time finding a job as a nutritionist that doesn't require dietitian status but I found a few. Also, there are a lot of places that will let you work as a nutritionist as long as you have the eligibility for the RD license (the DPD's completed)
